B.C. and Back

B.C. and Back

In 1991 Patricia and her ex-husband Stewart moved back to Ontario from B.C. They lived in B.C. for two years and loved it. The reason they were moving back was because of family. They missed Patricia's dad, stepmom, Patricia’s daughter Michelle and their extended family because none of them were in B.C. with Patricia and Stewart. While Patricia was living in B.C., she got two dogs.

One of the dogs was half Husky and half wolf and the other dog was half Malamute and half wolf. Their dog was also going to be having puppies. Patricia would be leaving with more than what she came with. Patricia and Stewart got into their van with their son, two dogs, and eight six-week-old puppies.

On their way back to Ontario, Patricia knew that it would be challenging trying to get to Ontario with all eight six-week-old puppies, her son, Stewart and herself. They had to take a ferry to the mainland and once they started going through the mountains it was very dangerous and it was very scary. It dropped straight down and they had to stop for four hours while they did avalanche control.

After waiting for four hours they went through the Rogers Pass. Rogers Pass is a high mountain pass through the Rocky Mountains of B.C. used by the Canadian Pacific Railway and the Trans-Canada Highway. It has some of the most beautiful scenery in all of Canada. On their way home they wanted to find a sheltered spot underneath a tree because it was really hot and they wanted to play with the puppies and feed them.

They kept driving and driving but they still couldn’t find a tree. They drove right through Saskatchewan with still no luck. So finally in the late afternoon, they found a forest spot in Manitoba. They camped there before going on with their trip.

When they arrived home, all of Patricia’s family were nervous about letting the dogs near their kids. When they got back they stayed with their family and a couple weeks later they bought their own house. Patricia said that her family didn’t realise that the dogs were accustomed to family life. They were very happy to be home again and they were very happy to see their family too!

I had a lot of fun with Patricia, Ally, and Nadalee over the year and I hope Patricia comes back next year so that other people can have just as much fun with her just like I did!
